Reader, Have you ever thought about how many jobs your pelvic floor has? I've broken them down into 6 purposes that I'll share in a series of emails starting with this one. Think of the emails as a choose-your-own-adventure saga. Your follow-up questions will determine how I'll respond in the following emails! So let's begin! Purpose 1: Support - Your pelvic floor muscles support your pelvic organs: bladder, urethra, vagina, uterus, intestines, rectum, and anus. Your pelvic floor holds things up. To "hold things up" also means to delay progress, and in the case of your pelvic floor, you're delaying the progress of your organs from falling down and out. A normal, healthy pelvic floor has no problem fighting the effects of gravity and all the jumping, jostling, and running around that you do each day. But, if you are experiencing pelvic heaviness or a falling out feeling from your vagina, your pelvic floor is failing you, or maybe you're failing your pelvic floor. Choose . . .
